Making Lemonade Advocates

The saying is "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade" and as wonderful and strong as that sounds, it's not always that easy, is it? The reality is your so pissed off about the situation that you damn the world and become angry and maybe even distant. If you're like me, you start questioning every aspect of your life to figure out if there were any visible clues you missed that you would've avoided the broken heart, the mental breakdown, the missed-communication between you and your wayward child, the cancer diagnosis, the sudden suicide of a friend or life itself taking a sudden change for the worst.

You eventually make a decision that you will no longer be a victim but a victor, and you struggle to find people in your life who will understand where you are. To no avail, those closet to you cannot share because they are either afraid to admit they are flawed or in denial or simply cannot relate. You decide the empty feeling inside you, no one else should ever feel and you find a way out and once you do, you ask yourself how can you reach back? This is the beginning of becoming an advocate.

You don't let your condition become a crutch, instead, you become a pillar of strength to others like yourself. You don't use your condition as a tool to get sympathy but, a tool to get awareness and to fight for others who are not yet ready to fight for themselves like you once were. Instead of making lemonade from the lemons, play ball and throw the lemons back at the world. No matter your affliction, choose life, choose the fight, and choose to advocate for your life and others. You are not alone, someone needs to hear your story, tell it! Be Blessed!
